We welcome Yujin, Nereida, and Milad to the lab!

We are happy to welcome Yujin, a postdoc, Nereida, a lab manager, and Milad, a rotation student for the first rotation to the lab. Yujin is a trailblazer in the field of liver development and regeneration, and she discovered that mesenchymal stem cells and human embryonic stem cells can be selectively and efficiently differentiated into functional induced hepatocytes. Furthermore, she characterized secreted factors which could successfully reverse chronic liver damage in mice, which is extremely relevant to human health. Nereida worked with a team of high-energy particle physicists at Cornell University, contributing to cutting edge upgrades of the Compact Muon Solenoid, the same large-scale

Dr. Samuel Beck, one of our postdocs, has become a PI

After years of spearheading innovative studies into the roles of CpG islands as critical determinants of eukaryotic gene regulation, one of our postdocs, Dr. Samuel Beck, started his own lab at the MDI Biological Laboratory in Maine. He aspires to study the roles of the lamin mutation in disrupting global gene localization and expression in progeria, an accelerated aging disease, as a model system for studying the process of aging itself. We wish him the best of luck!
