We welcome Yujin, Nereida, and Milad to the lab!

We are happy to welcome Yujin, a postdoc, Nereida, a lab manager, and Milad, a rotation student for the first rotation to the lab.

Yujin is a trailblazer in the field of liver development and regeneration, and she discovered that mesenchymal stem cells and human embryonic stem cells can be selectively and efficiently differentiated into functional induced hepatocytes. Furthermore, she characterized secreted factors which could successfully reverse chronic liver damage in mice, which is extremely relevant to human health.

Nereida worked with a team of high-energy particle physicists at Cornell University, contributing to cutting edge upgrades of the Compact Muon Solenoid, the same large-scale detector which tentatively discovered the Higgs boson in 2012. She's passionate about education, tutoring numerous students in the fields of electricity, magnetism, and classical mechanics.

Milad finished his undergrad in biotechnology in the UAE, where he sought to develop novel biodiesels by biochemically typifying fungal lipids and scrutinize the effects of botanical compounds on DNA repair pathways. At UT Arlington, he investigated neuroprotective compounds as well as how endocrine hormones and disruptors, which are widespread in contaminated water systems, dysregulated poorly-characterized lncRNAs.
