We welcome Jessie to the lab!
We're overjoyed to have Jessie as part of our lab as a prospective PhD student. Receiving her Master's from Yang-Ming University in Taiwan, Jessie delved into the mysteries of how red blood cells lose their nucleus by investigating the roles of EKLF, a transcription factor whose dysfunction can lead to anemia and thalassemia. She is also adept at translational research: she screened compounds for inhibition of angiogenesis in melanoma, and 9 of the compounds she screened showed clear promise for clinical trials. In our lab, she seeks to use CRISPR/Cas9 to generate single and double knockouts of Hippo pathway effectors, implicated in embryonic development and tumor proliferation.
