HaeWon defended his dissertation
Our senior graduate student, HaeWon, successfully defended his dissertation on July 28 and became Dr. HaeWon Chung. In the lab, he pioneered research on the effects of Hippo signaling and its effector, Yap1, on embryonic stem cell self-renewal and differentiation potential, as well as worked to characterize novel repressors of Oct4, a master regulator of stem cell identity.
Aside from his own main projects, he collaborated with other labs to advance fundamental understanding of global transcriptomic changes during regression of thymus size and structure (Ki et al., 2014, Cell Reports) as well as crosstalk between Hedgehog signaling and Nanog, another master regulator of stemness. Congratulations, HaeWon!
